EVENT INFORMATION
TEAM TAIKAI

Each team will consist of 5 players, and up to 2 alternates.

If there are are individuals who would like to participate but do not have a team,we will do our best to form full teams.
- Eligibility: current AUSKF or FIK affiliate
- Taikai format will depend on the number of teams registered. Each team will be guaranteed to play multiple matches
- Matches will be sanbon shoubu (3 point matches)
- 4th Dan and up are asked to help with judging, 3rd Dan and below are asked to help with managing courts.
SHINSA

Candidates need to have a current AUSKF membership.

Non-SUSKIF members need to obtain permission from their regional federation president with this form.

Candidates for Shodan and above need to send a copy of their Menjo.

On the day of Shinsa, check-in before Shinsa begins.

Menjo: Name needs to match name in AUSKF database and please pay the fee by the end of the seminar:Kids Kyu $20, Adult Kyu $30, Shodan $50, Nidan $60, Sandan $80.​
Shinsa Format

Sandan: 2 rounds of Keiko, & Kendo Kata 1-10

Nidan: 2 rounds of Keiko, & Kendo Kata 1-7

Shodan: Kirikaeshi, 2 rounds of Keiko, & Kendo Kata 1-5 (Examples: Keiko, Kata)

Ikkyu: Kirikaeshi, 2 rounds of Keiko, & Kendo Kata 1-3 (Examples: Keiko)

Nikkyu and below: Kirikaeshi and 2x each of Men, Kote Men, & Do

Candidates who have rank may be asked to do 1 round of keiko

Bokuto Kata: Nikkyu: 1-9, Sankyu: 1-6, Yonkyu: 1-3

​Join us in Houston for a Kendo weekend, including an open team taikai and Shinsa up to 3rd Dan. For the Taikai, our goal is to foster goodwill while providing an opportunity for participants to gain experience in competing and judging. Guests include Sam Capiello Sensei, Nanadan, from Buffalo, New York.

Participation fee: $20 adult, $15 college/minor, $0 for Shinpan/volunteer only
